My dad bought a Wii the other day. Now there’s more reason to go home to my parents house: someday I will beat my mom in Wii Bowling.

My Friend’s Cat

A recent medical study reported that obesity is contagious among friends and acquaintances. Well then, you don’t want your cat around Mike’s cat. I was helping Mike move into his new house in VA, but the best part was messing with his obese cat. He was laying outside by the door and I was poking him as he was clearly annoyed. He wasn’t agitated enough to move though, as he was sorta stuck in the same position the whole day.

Terror on the Streets

Eric recently bought a brand-new, shiny blue motorbike. It seems like a fun, dangerous and reckless new hobby that I could get into during my spare time. I hear you get good gas mileage when you are doing wheelies on 695.

Softball III

The Baltimore Engineering Softball League has completed its season. We finished in second place overall and in the tournament. The season has been fun, and I got to see my old capstone instructor give up 16 consecutive runs without recording an out (and then got pulled, so that means he has an infinity ERA). We’ll see what happens next year.

I’m Back

Seems like I was out for the summer, but I was just busy with work and junks. Actually, I’ve been sick the past few days and had to take some time off from work, so now I’m sitting in front of my computer.
Next time you are at the corner bodega (Giant Food) and buy meds, bring ID. I got carded buying tylenol cold and some sore throat spray:

Gas Prices: A Pleasant Suprise
July 4th, 2007 · Comments Off on Gas Prices: A Pleasant Suprise

It’s the peak of the summer driving season (July 4th), and drivers are feeling the “pain at the pump”, although it may not be as bad as it could be. According to marylandgasprices.com, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.90, a drop from the season-high of $3.14 at the beginning of summer this year.
Last year, gas prices hit an average of $3 a gallon during late April and stayed there until the Labor Day holiday. In 2005, prices skyrocketed with instability in late summer during a devastating hurricane season.
Well, let’s hope that the lower prices continue and we can travel to our summer destinations without emptying our wallets, although this year’s predicted above-normal hurricane season will probably be the spoiler.
Best places to get gas: Exxon (at Route 1 South & MD 198) and Sunoco (at Route 1 North & Bowie Rd) have been the lowest prices in the area for weeks now. This weekend, regular unleaded at these two locations was $2.69.

Today’s Lesson: How to Lose a Customer with your First Words
June 28th, 2007 · 1 Comment
I was at my parents house today supervising the Comcast cable guy when this crazy-looking lady, carrying a box of unknown contents, walked up to our front door. Since the cable guy was installing the line, we’d left the storm door unlocked, so I ran to the door to intercept her.
I opened the storm door a small crack. I asked the crazy-looking lady, “How can I help you?”
She started off by saying, “I don’t know if you read English, but I’m walking door-to-door, selling books,” as she reached into her box, waving a paperback book at me.
I interrupted her, “Sorry, I don’t read English.”
“Oh, you don’t?” the crazy-looking lady asked, flustered and perplexed. “Because you speak English very well.”
“Thank you,” I said, as I locked the door in front of her.
